Simply put, the mission of the church is missions. Scripture says in Matthew 28:19-20, ” Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Mission is what the church is supposed to do.
What We Do For Missions
If we follow Scripture, and the example of the Apostle Paul as the first missionary, missionaries have a three fold job. 1) Win souls to Jesus Christ, 2) Baptize those believers and 3) Teach those new believers the Word of God. This means there needs to be a church in place to baptize and do the teaching. Therefore, by default missionaries would have to be church planters. We support those missionaries who will plant churches, help those who are planting churches, or train those who will plant churches.
