Coronavirus Hype!
So many people are running scared because we are facing a new threat to health and well-being. We call that threat the “Cornoavirus” or COVID-19. We know it makes people sick. We know, that in some cases, it can bring death. We know it is highly contagious. What we don’t know is why one person needs 240 rolls of toilet paper all at once!! All the hype, which borders on fear mongering, is sending people into a panic. They are buying toilet paper instead of paying rent, or other needed expenses. What happened to common sense?
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
The Bible uses the phrase “fear not” 63 times. We give up our strength and we minimize our faith when we give into fear and panic. God goes with us. He will neither fail us nor forsake us. It is fear and panic that is bring our nation to it’s knees as much as it is the actual virus.
Let us be strong and of a good courage, trusting in the Lord and using common sense precautions. Wash your hands. Be aware of your personal contact with others. Keep common surfaces, such as doorknobs, countertops and others, wiped down. If you have respiratory issues wear a mask. Just be wise about it.
Trust in the Lord and common sense wisdom will take you a lot further than the hype and the fear mongering.
