Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a person could get all of the benefits of a million dollars without having all the headaches that would go along it! Most folks think they would like to have a million, but if they just knew what it would entail they would probably decline the generous offer.
Suppose some one gave you a million late this evening. You would not be able to get it to the bank. You would need to set up all night and guard it. Every noise would shake you up and make you think a burglar is after it. You have already lost a night’s sleep and you are a nervous wreck and the excitement of the plans that you are making would have your emotions keyed to the breaking point.
The next day you will begin to face reality. The income tax will be somewhere around $862,000.00 and your tithe is $100,000.00, now you only have $38,000.00 left and all the community clubs and drives will approach for a liberal contribution. All your relatives will be around to insure their standing. People will be extra friendly and you know it is the money and not you and you will be suspicious of everybody. A few days of this and you will cry out, “I wish I had never seen a million dollars!”
On the other hand it is possible to have all the benefits that we think would be ours without the million. Peace, security, contentment and all the rest will never come with money, these come from God and provision has been made through Jesus Christ and revealed to us through our Holy Bible. They are ours just for the taking. “Possess ye your possessions.” Joshua 1:11
