God Caring For His People

God Caring For His People

It is amazing to me the God cares for us even when we are dumb enough to leave Him out of our lives. Consider 1 Kings 20:12-13 1 Kings 20:12-13 And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city. And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Ahab is a wicked, idol worshiping king who has forgotten his God. Yet, when he and Israel are threatened with attack, look at the Lord’s reaction. First, the Lord sent a man of God to guide Ahab on the Lord’s behalf. Even when Ahab wasn’t looking for the Lord, the Lord was willing to offer him direction.

Next, God still answers when we need answers. Look at verse 14. 1 Kings 20:14 And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou. Ahab has questions. Who will fight? God answers….the young men. Ahab asks, “Who shall order the battle?” God answer is, that’s your job, Ahab. This king who walked away from God, and yet God, by His great grace, offers the answers that Ahab needs. He does the same for us today.

Finally, God blesses obedience. Ahab does everything that God, though His prophet, directed Ahab to do. 1 Kings 20:21 And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter. When Ahab did it God’s way, God blessed his obedience. He won a great battle.

To sum it up, think of it this way. God still cares for His people, even when those people walk away from Him. God doesn’t give up on us. God is still willing to guide us. God is still willing to answer us. God is still willing to bless our obedience.
