Do We Lead Our Families To Serve The Lord?

1 Chronicles 25:6 “All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.”

In Romans 12:1, we are called to serve the Lord and God calls it a reasonable service. If we take the Lord at His word, this means if we do not serve him, we are being disobedient to Him. In 1 Chronicles 25, this entire family, led by the father, served in the Temple of the Lord in the music ministry.

When our children were younger, Michelle and I were bus captains in the church bus ministry. We did it together, as a family. We got up early. We got ready. We arrived at the church around 7:30 am and we were on the road to pick up people by 8 am. My children learned the importance of serving the Lord at an early age.

If we do not raise up our children to serve the Lord, who will? The blessings of serving the Lord together as a family are huge! The benefits your children receive as the learn from you, the parents, how to serve the Lord and love doing so, are great.

Parents who, not only set the example of serving God, but teach their children the joy of serving God by way of hands on experience, have taught their children the secret of securing the blessings of the Lord. Let us LEAD our families to serve God!
