Move the Stumbling Block

Move the Stumbling Block

Sometimes we get in our own way. If you don’t think that is right, where do you think the phrases come from like, you would trip over your own feet, or you have two left feet. How many times have you almost tripped simply because your shoelace is untied? The other day, I missed a step going up the stairs in the house.  In other words, I tripped up the steps.  Face, it happens. We get in our way.

It happens in life, too. Again, think of this phrase. You are your own worst enemy.  We get caught up in things, issues, challenges and many times we have created those challenges in our lives without any help from anyone else.

In other cases, things happen that can derail our lives that are not of our own making, but it sure does seem to trip us up in life. It may be family issues. It may be work related, but it messes with life and just seems to get in our way and threatens to knock us off track.  We get frustrated with those things, but it is called life and it happens.

So the question becomes, how do we deal with those things? God tells us to take up the stumbling block. Isaiah 57:13-15 “When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

How to we get rid of that stumbling block?  Have a fellowship with God’s person. He dwells in the high and holy place with those who are of a contrite and humble spirit. Humble yourself to the point where you admit your need for His help. Admit you cannot fix it and beg God to help. You will find Him at your side. Have that fellowship with His person. It is a holy place. So have fellowship in God’s place.  This is what church is for. Find a good, Bible believing, Christ glorifying church where you can find encouraging fellowship with His people in His place.

You will find yourself with a fresh outlook on life without the stumbling blocks threatening to derail you. They may not be gone, but they won’t be in a position to trip you up anymore!
