The Charge of God

The Charge of God

As Christians, those who claim the name of Jesus, God has expectations for our lives. You could say we are charged regarding life. 1 Kings 2:3 expresses it this way. And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.”

We are to walk in his ways, to live as He wants us to live. We are to keep His statutes, to obey the Word of God. Remember, the Lord says to obey is better than sacrifice. We are to keep His commandments. We are honor His judgments. What God says is right is right and what God says is wrong is wrong and we need to accept that. We are to maintain his testimonies. That is to say, we need to maintain a testimony that glorifies the Lord.

What does this do for us? Look at the end of the verse. “That thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest and withsoever thou turnest thyself.” Our willingness to keep the charge of God prospers us and the things we do. Let’s not fuss with God. Let’s choose to keep the charge.
