The Greatness of God
In our day to day lives, how much time do we spend focusing on how great God is? If we really thing about it, the true greatness of God should blow our minds. Psalm 48:1 “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.” If we really want to know and draw close to the Lord, think about how great God is! He is the Great Deliverer! He…
Seeking Wisdom
In 1 Kings 3:28, the Bible says that when the people of Israel looked at Solomon, “they saw that the wisdom of God was in him.” My thought for the day is that you and I can have the wisdom of God. It is written down for us in Scripture. Solomon penned some of that wisdom in the book of Proverbs. The biggest challenge we deal with is not that we do not have the wisdom of God, but that…
SHow Kindness
It is always right to show kindness to those who have helped you along the way. 2 Samuel 9:1 says “And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake.” David did not have to do this. Jonathan had been killed in battle. The house of Saul had been the enemy of David for years. We should remember, however, that were it not for the kindness…
What does God See In You?
When God looks at us, what kind of people does he see? In Judges 13, the angel of the Lord appears to the parents of Samson. Dad’s name is Manoah. We do not know mom’s name. We do know that, as a nation, Israel had walked away from God again. Verse 1 says they “did evil in the sight of the Lord.” As a nation, they were not following God, but Manoah and his wife were following God. So what…
Rejoice
In Scripture, God gives us any reasons to rejoice. In the New Testament, we know the commands, “rejoice evermore,” and “rejoice in the Lord, always, and again I say, rejoice.” The book of Deuteronomy is just as clear. In Deuteronomy 16:11, “ God says, “And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God…….in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place His name there.” In other words, there ought to be rejoicing in the church house. That…
The Lord He is God
We read in Deuteronomy 4:39, “… the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.” How often do we as Christians forget, or lose sight, of who God really is. We lose our wonder of the Lord. We lose our fear of the the Lord. We forget the works of the Lord. We forget the love that He has for us. This just should not happen in our lives. We need to…
On the Fringe With Your Bible
Most times when people talk about being on the fringe, it is being on the edge of something. A fringe is actually a woven or braided piece of material that is attached at the outer edge of a garment. It is from that context that people speak of those being on the fringe, or actions that are on the fringe as being on the edge of what is acceptable. In Numbers 15 the people were commanded to make fringe for…
Who Did You See in the Mirror?
Did you look in the mirror today? Probably, when you washed your face, got ready for your day and so on. You probably did. Let me take it a little deeper. When you looked in the mirror, what person did you see? Jas 1:23-25 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway…
A Family Affair
Think about this simple thought. Church is a family affair. Ministry is a family affair. Exodus 28:1 “And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.” Our children never had to ask what we were doing on Sunday. It was always “let’s get ready for church.” For years Michelle and…
One More Night With Frogs
In Exodus 8, God sends frogs into all of Egypt. Pharaoh calls upon Moses to ask God get rid of the frogs. Scripture records the conversation. Exodus 8:9-10 “And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only? And he said, To morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy…
In The Beginning….
There is a simple thought that those who live in the world miss….God has nothing to prove. He does not have to prove Himself to you, me, or anyone else. When Moses reintroduced Him to Israel, God said to introduce Him as “I AM THAT I AM.” We do not need to prove His existence. He is a big God who knows how to handle all that there is. It is why the Bible has a simple start. Genesis 1:1…
